You’re Welcome

You’re Welcome

Hedges, boxwoods, stately magnolias, evergreens, and beautiful things.

I have always loved a beautiful entry to a home.

Growing up, our home was a simple ranch, and there wasn't much happening at the front door. Maybe that is why I noticed the homes that did have something special there. I noticed the stately entries, the beautiful porches, even something as simple as a pair of planters flanking a front door.

Those little details seemed to say something to me long before I had words for it.

There was a welcome there.

There are homes that seem to say something before anyone ever opens the door.

You’re welcome here.

That idea has stayed with me.

And as I have thought about Beautifully Home, I have realized that the welcome at our front door isn't only for our visitors. It isn't only for family coming for dinner, neighbors stopping by, or friends arriving for a celebration.

It is for our own welcomes also—arriving home after long workdays, tired, with groceries. Or coming home with exciting news! Arrivals after wonderful days and after days we would rather forget.

There is something meaningful about arriving at a place that feels like home.

The front entry, porch, veranda, stoop—or simply the welcoming place where we arrive—can offer that first little moment.

A beautiful wreath. A favorite planter. Greenery that has grown there for years. Something seasonal tied to the door. Details chosen because they make us smile when we see them.

They don't have to be elaborate.

They simply have to feel like us.

Beautifully Home was created from that idea.

That the places that welcome us home can be beautiful, thoughtful, and personal.

That changing a small detail can make something familiar feel new again.

That our homes can welcome the people we love—and welcome us, too.

Because sometimes the most important welcome is the one we create for ourselves.

The Front Door is More Than an Entrance

There is significant meaning in how we add decor to our entries. How we present our front door is like building a personality for the home. Some doors say “I’m good with a pretty in pink kind of da...
